  • About the Author

    Rev. Ensan

During his high school years, the word “justice” struck a deep chord within him, becoming a lifelong guiding principle and eventually leading him to major in political science at university. However, realizing the limitations of politics in truly transforming individuals and society, he chose to leave secular life and dedicate himself to cultivating the mind—the root and foundation of all things.

Rev. Ensan is a minister of Won Buddhism—one of Korea’s four major religions, offering a modern reinterpretation of traditional Buddhist teachings. For the past 20 years, he has been based in the western United States, where he leads Dharma services, guides meditation, and writes a regular column—bringing Buddhist insight into contemporary life—for a major newspaper.

His writing is known for its clarity and depth—simple yet profound—balancing modern sensibility with spiritual understanding.

He currently teaches Buddhism and meditation at the Won Meditation Center near Los Angeles, a sister institution of the Won Dharma Center in Claverack, New York. Both centers operate under Won Buddhism of USA Inc.
